Understanding FASD & the Brain - Megan Tucker - Lakeland Centre for FASD
Event Information
About this event
61% of pregnancies are unplanned and 80% of our population consumes alcohol. FASD is more common than we realize and it has a huge impact on how individuals learn and behave. This presentation will explore the impacts of alcohol exposure on the brain as well as new research and strategies for working with individuals who may have been exposed to alcohol prenatally.
Megan Tucker has been in the disability field for over 20 years, 14 of those years working specifically with FASD. She graduated from Grant MacEwan as a Rehabilitation Practitioner then studied Humanities at the University of Alberta. She is currently the Training Coordinator at the Lakeland Centre for FASD as well as a Prevention Conversation Facilitator for the Lakeland Metis Network. Megan has worked at the Lakeland Centre since 2009 and in that time one of her successes was creating and implementing the Transition to Adulthood Program currently in place at the Centre.
