Parenting Teenagers
Your Parenting Superpowers & The Relationships that Mean the Most
Presented by: Dr. Jody Carrington

Struggling with connecting with your teenager or a teen you work with? Wondering what discipline strategies to use? Dealing with an aloof, angry, anxious, withdrawn, or depressed youth, and you’re not sure how to manage it? Or perhaps you just want to know the best way to rekindle the relationship you once had with your child. Jody believes that human connections shape neural connections. Through the relationships that children have with their parent and caregivers, they begin to develop the “story” of themselves and others around them, and they decide two things: whether they are worthy of love and support and whether they are capable and competent beings. Teens and children are in constant search of the “bigger, stronger, kinder, wise”; they need an anchor. When they have these things in place, they have a much greater chance of developing into strong, healthy, respectful, and competent adults. Jody will help parents see how to better connect with their teen, and how to maintain respectful and warm relationship while still holding their teen responsible for their behavior. Dr. Carrington is excited to join parents and caregivers to talk about parent-teen relationships and how we balance this crazy, hectic life, and stay connected through it all.
