Event description

Description

The Candian Code for Volunteer Involvement was first launched in 2001 by Volunteer Canada as a part of the International Year of Volunteers. Over the last 17 years it has undergone revisions with the last one being in the fall of 2017.

Involving volunteers in a respectful, meaningful and inclusive way is the responsibility of everyone in your organization. The Code provides a road map for your organization to acknowledge volunteers as an important resource and treat them fairly and responsibly. This not about a law or a policy, the Code recognizes and reflects the changing realities of volunteer engagement and management practice, and supports the work of those who manage and support volunteer involvement within an organization;it is designed to be inclusive and accessbile to a diversity of people, cultures, communities, opportunities and approaches.

At the end of this workshop particpants will have an understanding of the Code of Conduct for Volunteer Involvement and feel supported to implement any aspect to their volunteer program.

This workshop is for:

Volunteer Managers as well as other staff, leaders and Board members from non-profit organizations. While some of the material is specific to and focused on volunteer management, the CCVI can play a meaningful role in shaping a non-profits's success, community engagement and growth.

About the facilitator:

Tracey Gibson is a 4th generation Victorian who loves living on the Westcoast. She has over 20 years experience in the non profit sector, and for the last 6 years has been coaching individuals, and facilitating workshops. Tracey has a Leisure Services BA from UVIC and a Certificate Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University. Tracey has volunteered for most of her life and prior to working for Volunteer Victoria was a member of the board for 6 years. One of her most memorable volunteering experiences was going to New Zealand for the Eco-Challenge.

When not creating learning opportunities for non-profit professionals Tracey can be found spending time with her 2 children, and husband or running with her Sole Sisters on the trails of Victoria.
