Are you an exporter or an importer of fresh and processed fruits and vegetables? Are you aware of proposed regulatory changes being recommended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) on market access of these goods?

On January 20, 2017 the proposed Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) were published in Canada Gazette, Part I (CGI) which marked the start of a 90-day public consultation. The proposed SFCR introduces modern food safety requirements for businesses that import food, or prepare food to be exported or sold across provinces. Importers and exporters are among the stakeholders who are invited to submit feedback on the proposed regulations visit for additional information.

Join TFO Canada as they host CFIA on March 29, 2017 for a webinar where you will be able to gain an understaning of the regulation and provide feedback during the consultation period which ends on April 21, 2017.

Tammy joined the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in 2007 and since then has worked in many executive capacities throughout the CFIA`s Policy and Programs Branch. She has over 25 years’ experience with the Government of Canada, having worked at various departments such as Health Canada and Public Safety Canada. She is currently the Director, Food Safety Program Planning and Requirements for CFIA and is leading its regulatory modernization for food safety.
