Sustainability reporting is becoming an increasingly common business practice. This two-day course provides participants with an understanding of the various drivers for sustainability disclosure. It reviews sustainability reporting frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), International Integrated Reporting and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).  In addition to these frameworks, the course addresses international initiatives that promote sustainability disclosure such as the

Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), CDP and the United Nations Global Compact. The course reviews best practices and current trends in sustainability reporting. It provides a roadmap for preparing a sustainability report that will meet stakeholder and company expectations.

Participants will leave with:

  • An up-to-date understanding of the state of sustainability reporting internationally, with a focus on Canadian content
  • In-depth insight into the most widely accepted sustainability reporting frameworks, with a focus on the Global Reporting Initiative
  • Knowledge regarding sustainability best practices, with a focus on areas where sustainability reporting can provide true added value to an organization
  • An awareness of common sustainability reporting pitfalls which typically require significant effort with little organizational benefit
  • Tips, tools, and best practices to being or enhance their own organization’s sustainability reporting efforts
  • The ability to better assess and evaluate information in other organization’s sustainability reports
