Keynote by Heidi Hunter

Until Now - A Perspective on Creativity as Fuel for Life

Fibre artist Heidi Hunter invites you to welcome serious play into your every day life. Heidi’s work in the arts has been fuelled by the creative process and her love/hate relationship with it. She hopes to ignite a desire in you to approach your artwork fearlessly, with playful openness and curiosity, combined with disciplined practice. She will share her views on working on a piece til you “don’t hate it", share highlights from her ongoing sketchbooks, and offer motivational tips on how to prevent your creativity running on empty during these busy times.

A little about Heidi

Renaissance woman Heidi Hunter, has been a multi-disciplinary artist all her working life. Over the past 35 years, she has worked in theatre, dance, music, TV and film, performing nationally and internationally. An 'artist’s artist', Heidi is a gifted, experienced teacher, arts consultant, and a forever student. She taught mime and physical theatre for over 20 years through Manitoba Artists in the Schools, ArtSmarts and Learning Through the Arts programs, and she continues to work with high school Manitobans as resident theatre instructor for Sunrise School Division’s ArtSpeak program. Now primarily a fibre artist, Heidi has found her voice creating visual theatre in her Runs with Scissors Studio where her hands dance with fabric and her heart sings in colour. Her award winning art quilts have been exhibited in Canada and the US. Driven by colour and obsessed with her love/hate relationship with the creative process, Heidi now lives to dye...and dies to quilt.
