Event Information
About this event
In partnership with Feminist Forum Canada, Equal Voice NL is hosting a 90-minute panel with ten impactful women and gender diverse leaders across Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as two International guest panelists making an impact as far away as the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
Two panels showcasing Newfoundland and Labrador's COVID response highlighting the impact of women and gender diverse individuals in leadership in academia, grassroots NGOs and youth experiences, illustrating an intersectional lens towards designing a 'New Normal' post-COVID.
Global guests from the UK and New Zealand will add international insights.
Moderated by Dr. Betsy McGregor, she has over has spent 16+ years crafting public policy on science, ethics, and gender, and was Delegate Leader of the Beijing 1995 UN Fourth World Conference on Women.
Panelist Roundtable
After each panel, panelists will go into a round table with moderator Dr. Betsy McGregor, Her Honour The Honourable Lieutenant Governor Judy Foote and Minister Gudie Hutchings, Parliamentary Secretary for Minister of WAGE Canada and Rural Economic Development. Each panelist will have a minute to sum up the best policy change(s) that could be put in place right now, to ensure we come out of this COVID recovery period better than we came into it.
The insights collected from this panel will be turned into a formal report which will be sent to Federal and Provincial government leaders to seek legislative change, and to be used as information to inform upcoming municipal and federal elections. We will seek follow up responses from those who receive it.
