About the Urban Climate Justice Workshop

Discussing these topics can inform how UBC advances progress to the Sustainable Development Goals and towards achieving climate and biodiversity action. Following UBC’s recent declaration of a Climate Emergency, we hope to create a safe and inclusive space to brainstorm about urban climate justice for people and places within our planet.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion are critical to a climate just future for all. We encourage participation in this workshop from members of groups that have been historically, persistently, or systemically marginalized in climate change conversations. We especially seek participation from those who identify as First Nations, Métis, Inuit, or as an Indigenous person; and those who have experienced marginalization from racialization, disability, political belief, disciplinary training, religion, marital or family status, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

We acknowledge that this event is happening on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam people.
