Us and Them Community Screening
Thu, 13 October 2016, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM CDT
Ten years in the making, Us and Them is a documentary written and directed by Krista Loughton and Jennifer Abbott of The Corporation. This is a story of her experience learning about the lives of four chronically homeless people. She set out to help them, but they ended up helping her. Under the mentorship of Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr., she teaches her charismatic friends about the First Nations Medicine Wheel in hopes of improving their lives. When one tragically dies, Krista seeks out the counsel of addictions specialist Dr. Gabor Mate. In the end, they come to understand that there is no difference between us.
"Us and Them puts a human face on homelessness, moving it from the political and economic realms into the human realm. This is done in a direct and personal way that the viewer can identify with." Dr. Gabor Mate
