University of Saskatchewan President Peter Stoicheff and his wife Kathryn Warden invite you to a special reception with USask alumni and friends in the UK, featuring keynote remarks by world-renowned author and historian Ross King.

Learn about King’s journey from Estevan to England, network with fellow alumni, and hear from President Stoicheff about the university's bold new vision through to 2025.

Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Ross King, a USask honorary degree recipient, has spent the past 20 years researching, writing and talking about Italian, French and Canadian art and history.

He is the award-winning author of 11 books including Brunelleschi’s Dome, Leonardo and The Last Supper, and Defiant Spirits: The Modernist Revolution of the Group of Seven. A Smithsonian Expert, he gives lectures and tours in both Italy and France, and he has lectured in many American museums, including at the Art Institute of Chicago and the National Gallery. He also works as a consultant for arts programmes, appearing in documentaries such as The Medici: Godfathers of the Renaissance, The Great Cathedral Mystery, Italy’s Invisible Cities, and Leonardo: The Mystery of the Lost Portrait. His most recent book, Mad Enchantment: Claude Monet and the Painting of the Water Lilies, won the 2017 RBC Taylor Prize and inspired the film The Water Lilies of Monet: The Magic of Water and Light.

When not traveling for work or pleasure, he lives in the historic town of Woodstock, near Oxford, with his wife Melanie, also a writer.
