This session will provide step-by-step demonstrations for getting started with using Compute Canada and WestGrid high performance computing (HPC) facilities.

This introductory-level talk will include hands-on demonstrations of how to log in, submit jobs, move data, and troubleshoot problems. This session is targeted at faculty members and graduate students in any discipline who either have a Compute Canada account or who are interested in acquiring a Compute Canada account.

Who Should Attend:

  • Anyone with a Compute Canada account, particularly new users who have recently acquired an account but who have yet to begin actively using the resources.

  • Anyone interested in using Compute Canada but who does not yet have an account (a guest account can be created for you for use during this session)

Pre-Requisite Skills / Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux and scripting (or similar experience) is required.
