Event description

Description

#UsToo: Building anti-VAW Movements in our Communities is a joint Roundtable event hosted by OCASI and the Barbra Schlifer Clinic.

The purpose of this full-day Roundtable is to bring together academics, survivors, service providers, community members, and activists in order to:

  • broaden the discussion around ending violence against women in immigrant and refugee communities
  • identify key areas for collective political advocacy and grassroots educational work

The Roundtable discussion will cover two key discussion themes:

  • structural/systemic change
  • grassroots/community-level education

The notes from the Roundtable will be used to create a new Working Paper on anti-VAW advocacy and education in immigrant and refugee communities.

Please Note:

  • Only 40 spots are available for the Roundtable discussion. Every effort will be make to select participants from a wide range of perspectives.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided
  • If you are travelling from outside the GTA, the cost of your transportation and accommodation will be covered
  • ASL interpretation will be available
  • There will be no obligation for further participation after the Roundtable is complete

If you have any questions about the Roundtable, please contact Sidrah Ahmad at smahmad@ocasi.org.
