UTOWN @ UBC Nature Club

Make new friends while getting to know your human, plant, and animal neighbours!

Nature Club is back and this year we are making things fun and flexible! Drop in between 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. the last Saturday of the month to enjoy all of our regular museum programming, including puppet shows, Raising Big Blue movie, museum tours, and special ecosystem activities just for you!


Program Schedule

A FREE program for campus residents, these three-hour drop-in sessions are designed for children 5-12 years old accompanied by an adult (not suitable for preschool-aged children). This program is supported by a partnership between the Beaty Biodiversity Museum and the Pacific Museum of Earth. All sessions will be held at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, with experts from the Pacific Museum of Earth making guest appearances.

Note: Sign-in at the admissions desk anytime after 10:00 a.m., note that all Nature Club activities will run between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Halloween

Costumes are encouraged! Dress up as your favorite creature and join us for a series of hands-on activities celebrating the spooky season.

Forests

Make new forest friends and take part in hands-on activities focused on the challenges and opportunities of living amongst the trees.

Urban

How well do you know your neighbours? This month we will be taking a close look at our own backyard, through hands on activities learn about common urban animals, plants, insects, and rocks.

Mountains

Explore life on the edge. Through a series of a series of hands-on activities we learn about the life and geology of alpine zones.

Sea

Today we will peer beneath the ocean’s surface and discover the fascinating creatures and formations that make up life under the sea.

Have you ever imagined a life above the clouds? Join us as we learn more about our climate; the movement of the wind; and the creatures that soar, swoop, and live life on the wing.

Curious about our garden? Explore the wonderful plants, birds, and insects that make a home on the roof of the Beaty Museum.

  • This program is designed for children 5-12 years old accompanied by an adult and is not suitable for preschool-aged children.
  • UTown@UBC Nature Club Drop-in activities run between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Sign in at the admissions desk when you arrive, feel free to stay as long as you'd like!
  • Pre-registration encouraged. Drop-ins welcome as space permits. Thank you for pre-registering so that we can prepare for the number of children attending.
