Description

Vacation Bible School for Seniors 2018:

The Beauty of Our Differences

The mission of the gospel calls us to break down barriers of alienation between cultures and those who are different from us. Our uniqueness was never meant to divide us; rather, it was intended to showcase God's creativity.

The Bible School for seniors aspires to achieve just that. Shepherd Village’s VBSS program takes place over the summer and focus on spiritual education and enrichment. While Vacation Bible School programs typically last a week, Shepherd Village’s VBSS program comprises three classes and participants can sign up for one, two, or all classes based on their preference and availability.

The theme of this year’s VBSS program is based on the spiritual formation principle of journeying into community. Through interactive Bible study, dialogue, food, and film, we’ll explore what it means to welcome strangers, share our faith in a multiethnic city, and celebrate the diversity of God’s kingdom.

Takeaways:

  • Explore what it means to remain faithful in a multicultural context

  • Gain insights and tools to share your faith with others

  • Make new connections between the story of Daniel and the Christian life in the 21st century

  • Learn from the stories of several people living at Shepherd Village and how they came to faith as newcomers to Canada

  • Be challenged to build bridges between cultures and share the redeeming message of Jesus Christ
