Vaccince Sciences Symposium 2017

Public Health Ontario is pleased to announce that the 4th Vaccine Sciences Symposium will be held on November 15th 2017 in Toronto. Ontario has a wealth of expertise in immunization and serving a diverse population that is growing and changing. Research and evaluation is an integral part of immunization programs and essential for continuous improvement of their design and implementation.

 

Symposium Program Overview:

  • Interesting speakers covering topics such as: immunization safety research, IMPACT, vaccine preventable diseases, potential benefits of new vaccines for Group A and/or Group B streptococci, and Ontario’s routine rotavirus immunization program.
  • A debate on philosophical and religious exemptions to vaccination.
  • Students showcasing their projects in a series of three-minute presentations (3MT™style).

 

Learning Objectives and Goals:

The ojectives of Vaccine Sciences Symposium 2017 are to:

  • Critically examine the science behind topical issues in immunization.
  • Bring together established researchers and practitioners to share diverse perspectives on scientific questions, spark debate and strengthen the professional community of practice.
  • Strengthen the knowledge base of immunization practitioners in Ontario noise.              

                                                              

Keynote Speaker: Dr. William Moss

Dr. Moss is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. A pediatrician by practice, Dr. Moss has worked around the world researching the epidemiology and control of childhood infections in resource-poor countries. His keynote presentation will explore the vaccination of HIV-infected children.
