VALDY AT THE PEWS
Overview
Valdy, born Valdemar Horsdal in Ottawa, has been part of the fabric of Canadian folk and pop music for over 50 years. A singer, guitarist, and songwriter, he’s known for capturing the small but meaningful moments of life through song. His breakout hit, Play Me a Rock and Roll Song, recalls a 1968 Aldergrove Rock Festival performance and remains a classic.
Valdy has released 13 albums, earned two JUNO Awards, four Gold records, and received seven JUNO nominations. His song A Good Song was recorded by Quincy Jones, and his music has been covered by artists including John Kay of Steppenwolf.
He’s toured across a dozen countries and regularly appears at festivals like The Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas. His collaborations include a touring album with Gary Fjellgaard (Contenders) and his latest release, Viva Valdy: Live at Last.
Valdy remains one of Canada’s most beloved and enduring singer-songwriters.
