About this Event

The Vancouver Division of Family Practice Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Thursday October 22, 2020, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, which will be held for the first time virtually through Zoom.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are keeping the AGM to the essentials. We will review the year's activities as well as reflect on 10 years of your Division, which began in 2010. Join us for a special moment to commemorate this milestone and connect with your member community in a unique and tasty way. Intrigued? Sign up and you’ll find out!

We are asking registrants for the AGM to include an email address AND the best mailing address for us to use (shipping address on the registration form). Email addresses will be utilized to send the Zoom link to participate in the AGM (closer to the date). The shipping address will be utilized for a meeting package mailed to participants in advance.

AGM Keynote CME Accredited: The Keynote address has been certified by UBC CPD for up to 1 Mainpro+ Group Learning credits. AGM attendees who sign in will receive a certificate after the event to claim your credit. Registration closes at 1pm on Oct 22nd in order to receive the Zoom link in a timely manner.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. James Makokis

The Vancouver Division is honoured to announce Dr. James Makokis as our AGM keynote speaker. Dr. Makokis is a proud Cree from the Saddle Lake First Nation in Northern Alberta and practices family medicine in Edmonton. James is a leading voice on Two-Spirit, Diversity, and Indigenous Health in Canada. Some may also be familiar with James as part of the winning team of last year’s Amazing Race Canada. We are proud to have James share his unique perspective with us during these unique times.

The Division is committed to moving forward dialogue, learning and actions to advance equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). We are excited to have James’ keynote as a strong launching off point for this important work. If you have yet to contribute to the online member ideas board, please click here to add your thoughts. James welcomes any questions or comments from members to inform his speech, so we invite everyone to add your input on the ideas board.
