1;45 - 2:45 Keynote B: Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) Practice Experiences - Dr. MacGregor - Medical Director of Victoria Hospice & Dr. Robertson - Island Health Executive Lead on MAiD.

Breakout Sessions - 10:00 am - 11:00 am

1A Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) Practice Experiences: During this session we will collectively explore the realities of MAiD in our communities, since it has been legalized and Implemented.

2A Reclaiming Family-led Home Funeral Vigils: An Inspiring Talk and Mock Demonstration: Don shares his own journey working in the field of deathcare, including spiritiual and ritual aspects, then offers an introduction to facilitating home funeral ceremonies.

3A Communication Bootcamp: This session is designed to give you tips and tools to build and protect your greatest asset: your reputation. An overview of how to put your best foot forward when communicating to your various stakeholder groups.

4A One Breathfor Me, One Breath for You: Including yourself in your circle of compassion - Victoria Pawlowski, Counsellor at Nanaimo Hospice

1B My Hospice Needs Funding , Part 1: Where is the Money: This seminar is geared for board members and staff who are new to fundraising and will share some easy to apply principles to employ.

2B Community Drum Circle: Experience the profound effect drumming can have on your life. Relieve stress while learing the basics of hand drumming in a fun an relaxed atmosphere.

3B Keep Calm and Play the Game: An overview of the ACP Game: "Hello: A Conversation Game for Living and Dying Well". We will provide an experiential activity relating to the game and talk briefly about our experience playing it in our community.

4B Mindful Art Therapy: Introduction to mindful art therapy through body awareness and sensation.


Breakout Sessions 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

1C Boundaries: What Have You Done for Me Lately? When do yours work for you? When are they challenged? How do you know when your boundaries have become open or mushy? Taboo topics, traps and much more.

2C Grief after Sudden Death: Realities, Risks & Responses: This workshop will provide participants with a brief overview of some of the realities, risks and helpful responses to be aware of following an unexpected death. Topics touched on include: overdose, suicide, homicide, basic assessment and complicated grief.

3C My Hospice Needs Funding Part #2: How Do I Get More Donations? This seminar builds on the morning session by helping attendees examine what they're currently doing to connect with donors and prospects and what steps to implement to begin attracting moe or larger donations.

4C Companioning at a Time of Perinatal Death: This presentation will offer insights into the unique grief of those experiencing death before or at the time of birth.
