Description
BrainStation and BC Innovation Council present the Vancouver - Women in IT Week Forum, which will feature networking, panel presentation and workshop. This is the final featured event for the Women in IT Week to help create awareness of contributions and opportunities for women in the sector.

11:40am - 12:30pm Career Development Workshop
Topic/Discussion: A common misconception about working in the IT sector is that you have to know how to code. This tech workshop is lead by two successful HR Professionals who will facilitate a deep dive into your personal growth within a career path in tech. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover what skills they bring to the table in tech, what do they need to learn, the barriers that exist and how to overcome them.

Topic/Discussion: This panel profiles trailblazing women in tech who are currently making their mark on the local tech community in Vancouver. The panelists come from various backgrounds within the IT sector and will share their own stories about working in or breaking into the industry. Discussions will be had around why they got into tech, the challenges they have faced, and the opportunities they have had to push the boundaries in the tech industry. Afterwards, the panel will be open to the floor for a Q&A session where attendees will have the opportunity to ask burning questions from these outstanding women.
