Revenge, Hackback, Strikeback By Any Other Name: Active Cyber Defence

Speaker: Patrick Neal, Doctor of Social Sciences  Candidate

Hackers, military advocates, corporate insurance providers, citizen activist groups have argued for a means to take the fight to the cyber criminal/attacker as a means of deterrence. This presentation examines cyber-deterrence through the lens of public policy and social responsibility. Presented are the preliminary findings of a survey and tentative implications for computer security professionals.
