How using medically important antibiotics on farm can impact the health of veal farmers and their families; Dr. Reny Lothrop

Responsible antibiotic use is key to good cattle health and welfare but it could also be just as important to your health. Dr. Lothrop will present studies recently completed in Europe that suggest not using antibiotics correctly could be causing bigger issues and why responsible use is now more important than ever.

Veal consumer marketing; Cara Ferguson, Edana Integrated Marketing

Cara will give an overview of the 2017 consumer marketing campaign and present initiatives for 2018, including the back-by-popular-demand “Ontario’s Best Veal Sandwich.

Veal cattle welfare in 2018; Melissa Speirs, Veal Farmers of Ontario

Veal cattle welfare saw many changes in 2017, along with the completion of many veal welfare projects. Melissa will review the completed projects and resources as well as present project ideas for 2018 and beyond.

Improving calf health in the first 21 days; Dr. Dave Renaud, University of Guelph

Dr. Renaud, a dedicated calf researcher, will present the final results from his recently completed PhD on male dairy calf health and provide an overview of challenges in the first 21 days, including tips to improve calf health during that time.
