KEYNOTE DESCRIPTIONS:

Keynote #1: You Can't Pour from an Empty Cup

Volunteer Management is such a busy and essential portfolio in any organization, and when things pile up, it can feel overwhelming. In this workshop with Wellness Coordinator, Catherine Poulton, you will focus on topics of self-care, self-compassion, sleep hacks, and learn how to be your own CEO (Chief Energy Officer). Participants will walk away with knowledge, and strategies to help them fill their cup; so they can continue to help others.

Keynote #2: Supporting Youth Success Thru Community Involvement

Volunteerism and community involvement are critical in positive youth development. Our sector is experiencing fast changes and new types of volunteers with limited resources. How can we build a solid bridge between the needs of youth and our organizational outcomes? Let's explore data and stories about what is important to young volunteers as well as best practices for recruiting and retaining them. Together we can share barriers and successes and discover the one common thread to all meaningful youth engagement.

Keynote #3: Media in Action - Coming Together to Get Results

Like many organizations, Volunteer Toronto strives to serve as many people and non-profits as possible, addressing issues with a limited budget and small team. It’s often collaborative and sometimes surprising solutions that create lasting impact. Last year, we noticed a major problem: Meals on Wheels programs across the city were facing a severe shortage of volunteers. Learn how our team jumped into action by researching the barriers in finding and keeping volunteers, forming a working group of Meals on Wheels volunteer managers, and gaining amazing media attention to help these programs see real results. Through our arena of collaboration, we saw widespread volunteer recruitment increases across affected programs. You’ll leave the session prepared with your own tools to assess and address volunteer engagement challenges in your community.
