Description

The 10th Annual Victorious Voices Festival is the island's biggest youth spoken word poetry event of the year! Featuring the High School Slam Championships, workshops and feature performances by award-winning poets, it is three days of mind blowing spoken word art.

Join award-winning writer Alessandra Naccarato for a writing workshop.

When: Wednesday, April 10th, 2019 5:00PM - 6:30PM

ABOUT ALESSANDRA:

Alessandra Naccarato is an award-winning poet based on Salt Spring Island, BC, who has received the CBC Poetry Prize and The RBC Bronwen Wallace Award from the Writer’s Trust of Canada. Over the past decade, she has toured nationally and internationally as a spoken word artist, mentored hundreds of youth and emerging writers, and her poetry has appeared in literary magazines across Canada, including Room Magazine, EVENT, The New Quarterly, CV2, ARC Poetry Magazine, and elsewhere. She is the managing editor of Write Bloody North Publications, a newly released imprint of Write Bloody Publications (Los Angeles). Her debut poetry collection, Re-Origin of Species, is forthcoming with Book*hug Press in September 2019.

ABOUT CITYSTUDIO:

As of August 2nd, CityStudio has moved to a new location at 709/711 Douglas St, located just below the Crystal Gardens. There are two meeting areas spaces joined by a short raised ramp. Both spaces are accessible via street-level entrances without automatic door openers. There is one single-stall accessible washroom that does not have an automatic door opener. Please contact us with any questions.
