Vicarious Trauma and Me: Awareness, Balance, Connection
Thu, 1 Jun 2017, 9:30 AM – Fri, 2 Jun 2017, 3:00 PM EDT
Vicarious trauma is the emotional residue of exposure professionals have from listening to the pain, fear and trauma of their clients, students and patients. It has become a common occupational hazard in the helping field. This 2- day experiential retreat is an opportunity to explore and address the ABC’s of vicarious trauma including; awareness of signs and symptoms, balance of the demands of work, rest and play as well as an opportunity to connect to oneself and others in order to stay healthy. No previous horse experience is required to participate in the retreat. All activities facilitated in partnership with the horses are done on the ground.
