Victoria Community Garden Workshop Series: A Community Garden for Everyone
Event Information
About this Event
The second workshop introduces you to Universal Design principles, considerations for accessible design & enhancements in existing community gardens, as well as the basics of conducting accessibility audits. An audit questionnaire will be supplied helping community garden coordinators and their team/volunteers learn to ‘think differently’, and apply that thinking to improve accessibility in the garden.
This workshop series will reference the City's new Accessibility Framework. Taking part in these workshops will enable community garden coordinators to create stronger grant applications that better align with the City of Victoria’s accessibility goals. Funding is available to support the enhancement of existing community gardens through the My Great Neighbourhood Grant. New community gardens can access funding support through a new granting stream called the Community Garden Start-Up Grant being launched in early November.
This workshop series is a partnership between the City of Victoria and the Public Health Association of BC’s Can You Dig It program. Jan Todd from Agape Inclusion Solutions will be presenting and facilitating both workshops.
We’d like to acknowledge that the City of Victoria and all of its community gardens are on the homelands of the Lekwungen people now known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.
