Vimy 100th Anniversary Commemoration and LGH Groundbreaking Ceremony
Sun, 9 April 2017, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EDT
Join Trees for 3 Dots Planting Inc. (T43D) and the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc in commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge of World War One with a groundbreaking ceremony for a 100-tree living guard of honour (LGH) to be planted starting on Earth Day on Adair Boulevard.
The Battle of Vimy Ridge evokes the memory of the sacrifice made by many local residents, and points to the leadership and achievement of one of the community’s most famous native sons, General Sir Arthur William Currie. This project commemorates an important event in Canadian history with immense significance to the Strathroy community while assisting the municipality in achieving its objectives related to urban forest development.
The event will include brief announcements from project partners and local elected officials about the upcoming tree planting, and the planting of the first maple tree in honour of General Sir Arthur William Currie.
