Join us on select Wednesdays at 1:00pm to learn more tips and tricks to a successful job search. Choose one topic or attend all. Become better equipped to get that next job.

S.M.A.R.T. Goal Setting (presented by Skills for Life and Work)

Learn some key strategies in setting appropriate and meaningful goals. Upon completion of this workshop you will be able to set SMART goals using a worksheet, describe why we need to have goals, and list characteristics of effective goal setting.

Interview Techniques in a Virtual World (presented by Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants)

Learn some of the key concepts around interviewing including how to prepare for an interview mentally & physically, preparing for different interviews, answering the difficult questions, and how to close the interview. Get tips on how to interview using video conferencing in today’s job market. By the end of this workshop you should be familiar with styles of interviews and how to be better prepared when in an interview in person and virtually.

Mental Health in the Workplace (presented by Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants)

Learn more about some of the more common mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety. Discover what stigma is and how stigma plays a role in people disclosing their mental health. You will also learn more about accommodations that can help with a return to work plan.

Learn about the popular professional online networking platform. LinkedIn. We will provide you with a guided tour of some of the key features, instructions on how to set up your profile, and tips on how to best use LinkedIn to connect to potential employers. By the end of this workshop you should have more confidence in using LinkedIn in a useful and professional manner.

Review BC Employment Standards, including topics such as Minimum wages, deductions, overtime, breaks, vacation, leaves, special clothing, statutory holidays. Understand Compensation for the length of service and resolving disputes etc.

Health & Safety in the Workplace (presented by Warehousing Program for People with Disabilities)
