About this Event

Please Note that with the Covid-19 Pandemic keeping us out of public spaces we continue to deliver Green Drinks in a digital environment. Please register here on Eventbrite to receive the link for the call (will be emailed on the day of the event by 3pm). We will get things going at 615pm with some digital networking and the presentation will start at 630pm sharp.

This month we go ALL-Electric for our Virtual Green Drinks December which will be co-hosted by the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa (EVCO). Raymond Leury and Mike Banks will join us to demystify Electric Vehicles and give you the ins and outs on everything you need to know to dip your toes into the world of EVs. We will chat about makes and models available on the market. Which have the best range and which will be easiest on your pocket books. We will also talk market share and hear about upcoming trends you can expect to see in the EV marketplace. We will also discuss all the incentives out on the market and how you can take advantage of government rebates no matter what province you reside in.

During the event we will also be doing a live demo of a brand new interactive tool that reports on car sales including EV sales that Stats Can has put together. You will also see some footage captured at the Plug N’Drive’s Mobile Electric Vehicle Education Trailer (MEET) during its recent stop in Ottawa where it was stationed outside IKEA for the past two months. Finally, we will do a deep dive on chargers so you can understand the different charging types, how you can spend less money to charge your vehicle, what exactly FAST charging is, and how to get plugged in as soon as you bring your new EV home. If you are interested or want to learn more about Electric Vehicles, this virtual Green Drinks is for you. Space is limited so be sure to register now.

About our Speakers:

Mike Banks has a degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management and currently works as a Trade Data Analyst at Statistics Canada. Mike has owned an electric vehicle since 2017 which he uses as his daily commuter vehicle and is in the process of retrofitting his house with clean technologies with a goal of making it a Net Zero home before 2030. Mike is active in helping people transition to zero-emissions vehicles having already converted most of his friends and family to plug-in vehicles. As a board member of EVCO he also helps coordinate and participates in the various public outreach events and initiatives of the group.

Raymond Leury is retired from an Information Technology (IT) career, consulting for over 25 years to both private and public sector clients throughout Canada and the United States. The last 18 years he spent working for Microsoft culminating in the position of Principal Consultant. Raymond has always been interested in environmental issues. He has attended Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project leadership corps which re-ignited his passion, in particular the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. That has led him to purchase an electric vehicle (EV) 7 years ago and to get involved with EV owner’s groups, where he now occupies the position of President for the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa. Raymond splits his time between advocating for EVs, talking climate change and volunteering with the Red Cross, most recently helping with the Covid-19 efforts. Raymond holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa.

**Please Note: We are limiting registrations to one per person/computer. If others in your household would like to join you on the same device that is okay. If they would like to use a different device please register them separately.
