About this Event

This virtual event will mark the inaugural chapter networking meet-up for WiRE Halifax! We'll hear welcome remarks from Peter Gregg, President and CEO of Nova Scotia Power and have a featured presentation from Jennifer Wagner, President of CarbonCure Technologies. We'll also have time to hear Jennifer's answers to audience questions after her featured presentation.

This virtual event will take place through Zoom. For joining on Zoom at the time of the event, attendees can either log in to Eventbrite to be directed to the Zoom event or can access it by following instructions that will be emailed to registered attendees ahead of time.

Speaker Biography: Jennifer Wagner

Featured Presentation

Jennifer is President of CarbonCure Technologies, a high-growth clean technology startup that is on a mission to reduce 500 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually by 2030. The company has attracted world class investors such as Amazon, Microsoft, Shopify, and Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and has been recognized as Cleantech Group's 2020 North American Cleantech Company of the Year. Jennifer was recognized as one of Business Insider's Clean Energy Rising Stars in 2020, Canada's Clean 50 Emerging Leaders in 2019, and a Climate Trailblazer at the 2018 Global Climate Action Summit. Jennifer holds a BSc from McGill University, an MSc in Chemistry and an MBA from Dalhousie University.

Speaker Biography: Peter Gregg

Welcome Remarks

Peter Gregg is President and CEO of Nova Scotia Power, a role he assumed in October 2020. In his role, Peter is focused on planning for Nova Scotia’s clean energy future while overseeing the delivery of safe, reliable electricity to customers across the province.

Peter is an experienced leader in the Canadian energy sector. Prior to his role at NS Power, Peter most recently served as the President and CEO of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), where he oversaw the operation of Ontario’s bulk electricity system. He was also President and CEO of Enersource from 2014 to 2016, where he was integral in the merger of four of Ontario’s largest local distribution companies to create Alectra Inc., the second largest municipally owned utility in North America. Peter has also served as COO at Hydro One Networks, overseeing energy transmission and distribution across Ontario.

Throughout his career, Peter has been recognized for his leadership abilities and in 2015 and 2016 received the Ontario Energy Association’s Leader of the Year Award.

Peter currently serves on the Member Representatives Committee of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and is a member of the Electricity Subsector Coordinating Council (ESCC). He is also a member of the Canadian Electricity Association Board of Directors.

Peter received a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at University of Western Ontario and holds the Institute of Corporate Directors ICD.D (Certified Director) designation.
