Exhibition: History and Memory

Located on two floors and showcasing close to 500 artefacts from the Stewart Museum’s collections, the exhibition History and Memory offers visitors a chance to relive an epic journey through five centuries, retracing the origins of Quebec, from the arrival of the Europeans in America, to life in New France and the Canadian Confederation. An interactive model showing the fortified city of Montreal plunges visitors into a journey back in time where the city’s history comes alive through video clips, sounds and lights.

  • Visit with cultural mediator in English : 11 :30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and in French at 11 a.m. and 1 :30 p.m.

Participatory Space: It’s summer in Montreal

Young and old are invited to get creative on the theme of summer in Montreal. Illustrate your vision, show your colours and tell your story!



Outdoor Tours - upon reservation*

The Fort on St.Helen’s Island

Built in 1824, the Fort on St. Helen’s Island played an important role in the protection of the British colony against the United States. It served as a storage and distribution hub for war materials, such as weapons and ammunition for the military. This outdoor guided tour of the largest military site in Montreal reveals some key facts about the functioning of the British Army in the 19th century.

From the British Arsenal to Expo 67

The Stewart Museum is offering a walking tour of St. Helen’s Island. The tour follows the trails of Mont Boullé to explore the remains of British military buildings erected at the beginning of the 19th century. It ends with a visit to the top of the Biosphere for a panoramic view of the Expo 67 site.
Duration : 60 minutes.

*The outdoor tours are included in the Stewart admission fees.

To reserve your spot, you must:
  1. Select the date of your visit.
  2. Select the number of admission tickets (adult, senior, member, etc.) to the Museum.
  3. Select the number of tickets for each outdoor tour.
  4. If you want to attend one or both of the outdoor tours, it's possible!
    Repeat step 3 to reserve the second outdoor tour.

IMPORTANT: Outdoor tours will carry on as scheduled in case of light rain, but will be cancelled if the weather is more severe. In the case of cancellation, you will receive an email.
