The next in a series of vital conversations on TRC, The Oakville Community Foundation and The Partnership for Truth & Reconciliation in Oakville presents: The Vital Conversation on Cultural Appropriation


What is appropriate & What is appropriation?


As part of our local commitment in Oakville, we are actively responding to the calls for action from the Truth & Reconciliation commission and in doing so, invite you and your peers to do the same.

Join us in our Vital Conversation on Cultural Appropriation taking place at 6:30 pm at QEPCC, Black Box Theatre, 2302 Bridge Rd.


The evening will be hosted by Stephen Paquette, a traditional knowledge keeper and chair of the Indigenous Education Advisory Committee.


Panelists:

Lindsay Lickers, Haudenosaunee/ Anishinaabe, multi-media artist and arts administrator originally from Six Nations of the Grand River, with ancestral roots to Mississaugas of the New Credit

Elijah Williams, Indigenous Initiatives Co-ordinator at the Sheridan Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support at the Trafalgar Road Campus, Cayuga Artist

Chief Lady Bird (Nancy King), A visual artist from Mnjikaning Rama First Nation and has paternal roots in Moosedeer Point First Nation in Ontario.

Aura Last (Monique Bedard), a Haudenosaunee (Oneida Nation of the Thames) woman working as an artist, art facilitator and muralist.
