Voice & Movement: Fitzmaurice Voicework & Itcush Method
Tue, 22 November 2016, 9:00 AM – 11:15 AM CST
About This Class:
Itcush Method is a set of exercises and self care techniques that activate principles of dynamic alignment. Working on the floor, chair and standing the student learns how to achieve released neutral alignment, releasing tension and relieving pain.
Fitzmaurice Voicework is a somatic approach to voice that uses yoga asana and gentle released breath flow to connect psyche and soma. This gentle, grounded interplay between body, breath and sound creates a malleable container in which to explore voice and vocal expression.
Traci Foster is a multidisciplinary performance artist, instructor, and director, who was Canada’s first certified Fitzmaurice Voicework™ instructor and is one of Canada’s lead certified (2006) practitioners of the work. She explores and develops her work through somatic arts with a focus on body, breath and voice. Traci maintains a private practice of teaching/coaching and conducts workshops in creative development through voice work, acting, and clowning in Regina, Vancouver, and Los Angeles.
Ashley Johnson is a dancer, dance educator and somatic practitioner. She holds a diploma in Dance from Grant MacEwan College (Edmonton), a bachelor of arts in Dance from the University of Calgary and has special training in Sport Science from the University of Hong Kong. Ashley certified in the Itcush Method and Mitzvah Technique with Amelia Itcush in 2011. In 2016 Ashley completed advanced training in the Mitzvah Technique with senior teacher Toshie Okabe (Toronto). www.constantlyseekingsoftness.ca
