VoicED 2020

The National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) has been helping Canadians affected by eating disorders since 1985. Through our programs and services, we provide information, education, resources, support, and referrals to individuals struggling with food and weight issues, as well as the families, friends, and professionals who care for them. With a focus on promoting self-acceptance and positive self-esteem, NEDIC is committed to reducing risk factors for the development of eating disorders.

Super Wonder Gallery

VoicED is an annual community art event curated by the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) that takes place during Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW). This year, we&#x27;re raising awareness about the message &quot;Eating Disorders Can&#x27;t Afford to Wait&quot;, while continuing to cultivate a community of hope to those who are living with or affected by eating disorders. By providing a &quot;voice&quot; to those with lived experience, we hope to empower everyone involved to continue to dismantle the discrimination around eating disorders.Please RSVP on EventBrite so our team can account for your attendance and the venue&#x27;s space capacity. <ul><li>The event is pay-what-you-can, with cash accepted at the door. There is a suggested donation amount of $10. </li><li>100% of the profits go toward supporting NEDIC&#x27;s helpline and instant chat services for people living with or affected by eating disorders</li></ul>Interested in performing at VoicED?We&#x27;d love to feature your work and hear your story! The evening&#x27;s programming will include an open mic portion should you want to sign up on the day of the event. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)When do doors open?Doors open at 6:30 pm for the night&#x27;s attendees. The program will commence at 7:00 pm .Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?No. Everyone is welcome!I want to participate! How can I contribute to the program?We want to hear your story in the most authentic medium to you! In the past, performances have included dance, musicians, singers, and spoken word. Works can include paintings, sculpture and photography. If you have another medium in mind, you can let us know at the link <a href="https://form.jotform.com/NEDIC/voiced-performance-submission-2020" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a>.Will the event contain triggering content?While our hope is to create a safe space during VoicED, we acknowledge that everyone is at a different place in their journey and that means everyone&#x27;s comfort level with the content will vary. A general activation warning will be provided at the beginning of the event.Are the washrooms at the venue gender-neutral?The washrooms at The Super Wonder Gallery will be gender-neutral.Is Super Wonder Gallery physically accessible for persons with mobility devices?The Super Wonder Gallery is wheelchair-accessible, but the washrooms are not. Wheelchair accessible washrooms are available next door at The Peacock Public House, which will accommodate attendees with mobility devices.Will there be refreshments provided during the event?An assorted mix of appetizers will be provided on a pay-what-you-can basis and all food will be labeled with major allergens. There will be a cash bar for attendees who wish to enjoy a drink. What are my transportation and parking options for getting to the event?The Super Wonder Gallery is located at 584 College Street, in Toronto. It is on the 506 streetcar route, at the College Street and Euclid Avenue stop. Parking is available on the street or at the Green P (paid) parking lot, located at 74 Clinton Street.
