Event Information
About this Event
This panel is the second of three sessions planned for the spring semester called "Voices Across the Border," which will bring together scholars from Brock University (Ontario), Niagara University (New York), and Bridgewater State (Massachusetts) to talk about their research on timely subjects and to engage in a conversation with campus community members. Panel members will each describe their work briefly, then a moderated Q & A period will follow.
"Women's Rights and Historical Memory in Canada and the United States"
How do we know what we think we know about women's history in Canada and the United States?
How is historical memory shaped?
How do ideas about class and race intersect with gender in the history of women and politics?
What steps can each of us take to recognize the broad diversity of women activists who are shaping campaigns for equal rights in our two respective countries?
