Voices from the Himalayas: Exploring Global Health Through Narrative
Thu, 30 March 2017, 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM EDT
Dr. Karen Trollope-Kumar is a family physician who also holds a PhD in medical anthropology. She and her husband Dr Pradeep Kumar lived and worked in the Himalayan foothills of north India for over ten years. In this presentation, she reads excerpts from her award-winning memoir, Cloud Messenger, that illustrate some of the joys and challenges of health work in a remote part of the world. Using the reflective art of narrative, she also explores her own development as a physician and anthropologist.
