Welcome to VOKRA's 2015 6th Annual Walk for the Kitties
Every year, for one day, we ask all our friends to join us in raising funds for the homeless and unwanted cats and kittens in the Lower Mainland.
It's easy to participate:
- CHOOSE the VOKRA cat you'd like to walk for.
- REGISTER here.
- COLLECT DONATIONS - through your own personalized CanadaHelps GivingPage or our paper pledge form. Instructions are here.
- WALK with us on September 13th, rain or shine. It's a relaxing, non-competitive 5 km stroll along Jericho beach - to the dog park and back. And if you don't want to walk, that's okay.. Come and hang around "base camp"
- CELEBRATE the difference you've made in the lives of Lower Mainland cats and kittens.
Connect with fellow walk participants and receive the latest updates on the teams, the cats. Watch our fundraising cat climb the tree towards our $50,000 goal! "Like" our Walk for the Kitties fan page on Facebook.
VOKRA is a 100% volunteer driven organization that relies on donations and fundraising for our support. In 2014 we took in over 1800 cats. This year it will be close to 2000. We do not have a shelter and rely on a foster network of more than 350 homes in the Lower Mainland. Our kitties are socialized and cared for while we find them forever homes.
But that takes money... A lot of money. Just to give you an idea of what things cost
$15 will provide a vaccine
$30 will buy a flat of food
$50 will provide care for one cat for a month
$60 will buy a trap for use in our trap-neuter-return programmes
$100 will spay/neuter a cat
Every bit helps!
Please gather pledges and donate generously.
When & Where
VOKRA’s mission is to end cat overpopulation and homelessness. We rescue, heal, then place cats - first in our network of foster homes, then in carefully matched, loving, forever homes. We are a passionate, volunteer-driven charity with extensive cat care experience. We believe that no-kill is the only responsible approach, that TNR works, and that cats are AWESOME!
Please take a look at www.vokra.ca for more information on our organization and its programmes.
