No person is an island – we need volunteers: people working with us to make the changes we want to make in the world. But people are like islands – they bring many different assets and challenges to the table. Some will provide you with (intellectual) nourishment, some will surprise you with the diversity of their ideas and energy, and some you will simply want to wave at as you paddle by in your canoe but not engage.
In this workshop, we'll explore how to find volunteers, the best ways to bring them into your project, and how to work with them so you don't waste their time or yours, and the best tips for making it a mutually empowering and effective experience.
