Event description
Farm & Food Care Ontario is seeking volunteers to help at our Breakfast from the Farm event in Ottawa.

About this event

Since 2014, farm families have generously opened their farm gates to thousands of Ontarians for Breakfast on the Farm. This year, we’re doing things a little differently.

NEW in 2021! DRIVE-THRU Breakfast from the Farm!

Farm & Food Care Ontario is seeking volunteers to help at our first-ever Breakfast from the Farm event. This contactless, family-friendly event will give visitors a glimpse of what farming is all about from the comfort of their own vehicle! Outgoing and friendly volunteers are needed to welcome our visitors and set the tone from the moment they arrive. Please read the full event description.

Date: Sunday, July 18, 2021

Time: 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Where: Carp Fair

Note: Farm & Food Care is also seeking approx. 10 volunteers to assist in packing "Breakfast Bags" for guests on Saturday, July 17, 2021. Packing will begin mid-afternoon on June 17. Register as a volunteer for the main event, breakfast bag packing or both by clicking "Register".

Commitment Details:

We are asking that all volunteers arrive on-site by 8:30 a.m.on Sunday, July 18, 2021, to allow enough time for COVID-19 screening and orientation.

Volunteers will be provided with t-shirts identifying them as volunteers and are otherwise expected to be appropriately dressed for the weather. FFCO will also provide each volunteer with a branded, 3-layer face mask.

There are a number of areas of the event that volunteers will be stationed at, including registration, "Breakfast Bag" curbside pick-up and along the route through the grounds. Volunteers are expected to be in their assigned area for the duration of the event. FFCO staff will be on-site to assist and answer any of your questions.

Volunteers may be asked to assist with set up and clean up/tear down, depending on their assigned area.

COVID-19 Measures:

  • Due to COVID-19 and the new format of this event, we are currently seeking volunteers that are 18+.
  • Face masks will be mandatory for all volunteers and branded, 3-layer face masks will be provided by FFCO. If a volunteer wishes to bring/use their own face mask that is acceptable.
  • Volunteers will practice physical distancing, keeping a distance of at least two metres from others.
  • Volunteers must remain at least two metres from ticket-holder vehicles unless required for registration or curbside pick-up.
  • Volunteers from the same household bubble may be asked to pair up for duties.
  • FFCO will screen volunteers for symptoms of COVID-19 or other risk factors on arrival. Volunteers with symptoms or other risk factors will not be permitted to participate.

FFCO is grateful for the passionate and hard-working volunteers that have made Breakfast on the Farm events so successful. Thank you!
