How to get there


Farm & Food Care is seeking volunteers to help at our Breakfast on the Farm event. Outgoing and friendly volunteers are needed to welcome our keen visitors and set the tone from the moment they arrive at the farm until they have completed breakfast and the tour.

Date: August 2, 2014

Time: 7:30a.m. to 1:00p.m.

Where: Stanlee Farms - Jim & Nancy Wert & Family - 16825 County Road 43 Avonmore, ON K0C 1C0

Commitment Details:

We are asking that all volunteers arrive on site by 7:30a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014. Some exceptions may apply.

Volunteers are expected to be appropriately dressed for the weather. This event will go ahead rain or shine. Volunteers will be given t-shirts identifying them as volunteers.

Volunteers are expected to be in their assigned area for the duration of the event.

Volunteers may be asked to assist with set up and clean up/tear down of their assigned areas, depending on the assigned area.

There are a number of areas of the event that volunteers will be stationed at. The areas and a description of the duties are outlined below.

Parking & Shuttles:

  • assist guests with parking their cars and directing them to the welcome tent for further information.
  • park cars in an orderly fashion.
  • be on site to direct visitors to shuttle buses.

Welcome Tent:

  • welcome people to the event.
  • provide visitors with farm maps and direct them towards the food area.
  • sign in visitors (family name, number in party, where they are from).
  • aksi those waiting in line to fill our surveys.

Display Booth Check In:

  • assist and direct partner organizations to assigned areas for their booths/exhibit area.

Food Server:

  • assist with serving breakfast to the visitors.
  • direct people to the food tent to eat their breakfast.
  • assist preparing plates.
  • restocking supplies.

Food Tent:

  • direct people to open seating in the food tent.
  • help restock supplies i.e. coffee, juice, milk, maple syrup.
  • clear off tables and any garbage that accumulates.

Biosecurity - to be determined

  • each visitor will be required to wear biosecurity boots over their shoes for the duration of the farm tour.
  • ensure that all visitors have finished eating before passing through. No food is permitted in the barn or in the farmyard area.

Throughout the Barn/Farm:

  • help guests stay within the designated areas of the barn/farmyard.
  • direct people away from areas not included on the tour.
  • answer questions about animals, equipment and farm practices.

Every effort will be made to place volunteers in their preferred locations for the event however the final decision will be made by the organizing committee.

Note that volunteers do not need to register for a separate ticket for the event. All volunteers are will be included for breakfast.
