Volunteer/Staff Relations: The Foundation of Success at Your Organization
Thu, 3 November 2016, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is well known as an innovative and successful non-profit. Join their seasoned Volunteer Coordinator, Brenda Walsh, to learn how she has trained volunteers and worked with colleagues to better enhance the use of volunteers’ time and talents. Kristen Drexler, past Events Manager for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington and now Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington, will share how Brenda’s work helped build her capacity and allowed her to think strategically. In this session you will learn the following key points that you can take back to your organization:
- Strategies to help staff and organizations understand how and where volunteers can support their work and build their capacity
- Tools to help organize, schedule and train your volunteers
- Strategies to help guide your success in executing events with large volunteer numbers
- Samples in how to thank volunteers at different levels of engagement
This workshop is a great next step for anyone who took 'Training Volunteers and All Who Work With Them' in January 2016 with Joanna Michalski. The workshop is ideal for Volunteer Managers to attend with their colleagues.
About the Facilitators: Brenda believes the value in life lays in the relationships we build along the way. With 10 years of volunteer management experience, Brenda is dedicated to helping people see their full potential and providing volunteer opportunities that make every person feel successful. She is excited to share her passion with you in this workshop.
