Walk Through Queen's Park
Date and time
A 30 min walk through the park followed by some guided conversations to learn about New West.
About this event
Moving to a new community is challenging and often isolating and lonely. New Westminster is a great community, full of welcoming and warm individuals, but it can be hard to meet new people. New Roots helps people moving to town create connections and really become part of this city that we love to call home.
What to expect at a New Roots Event?
We will start with some brief introductions, followed by a 30 minute walk through the park. Then a short presentation about what this community has to offer. Next, some facilitated small group discussions to share information among each other followed by a Q and A period to get your questions answered. You can then stick around and socialize with other attendees to deepen your connections.
Where and when will this take place?
We will meet up at the Queen's Park Band Shell. It is located in the middle of the park, closer to the 6th ave side of the park. This will take place on June 11 at 10 am. Please try to be a couple minutes early so we can get you a name tag.
New Westminster is on the unceded territories of the Qayqayt First Nation and other Coast Salish peoples. Through generations of policy and erasure their contributions to and history on this land have been made invisible. New Roots commits to ongoing learning so we can strive to be part of repairing this heartbreaking piece of our community's history.
Cost?
There is no cost to attend the event.
