About this event
With a particular eye to the ever-changing landscapes of the sky, explore the experience of deep looking – up – as Van Geest leads participants through simple drawing exercises on location to capture the sky’s many expressions in the city as the sun moves from daytime through sunset towards twilight. Inspired by her own series of Sky Drawings created en plein air on the roof of her downtown studio, participants of all experience levels are welcome, from those looking to try something new to experienced artists interested in urban sketching. All materials included; registration is required as space is limited.
Pearl Van Geest is a Guelph-based artist, writer, and visual arts educator with an extensive exhibition history spanning over 25 years. With a practice inspired by prolonged observation of the natural world – colours and colour relationships, patterns and compositional structure, as well as textures and forms – Van Geest often invites collective contributions to her artmaking.
