Water Wise Gardening
Learn how drought tolerant plants can be used to create year round interest and colour. This presentation will highlight the basic principles of xeriscaping thus creating a diverse, drought-tolerant and pesticide-free habitat with plants that bloom from spring to fall providing nectar and pollen throughout the season for all beneficial insects.
Instructor: Eva Antonijevic, Okanagan Xeriscape Association
Eva Antonijevic lived on the North Shore before moving to the Okanagan. Eva is a registered professional biologist and the current program director of the Okanagan Xeriscape Association. Previous to this she worked as the community program director for the Friends of Summerland Gardens (FOG) for the past six years, which has involved implementing many water conservation initiatives on the fifteen-acre site. The water conservation improvements include: water metering, upgrading and monitoring irrigation and revising planting philosophy and conducting environmental educational programming and workshops. Eva understands the importance of pollinators having kept honeybees in her backyard and she has also been providing nest blocks for mason bees.
Eva is excited to be back in the City of North Vancouver with this presentation for the North Shore Neighbourhood House
