Waterloo Region Faith, Settlement & Syrian Resettlement Research Forum

The Centre for Community Based Research, the International Migration Research Centre and the Immigration Partnership invite you to an interactive afternoon to hear research findings and reflect on results.

Since 2016, six studies on immigration and refugee resettlement involving many community stakeholders have taken place in Waterloo Region.

The studies have explored faith and settlement partnerships and numerous aspects of Syrian refugee resettlement. Several focused in depth on Waterloo Region. Others focused on several communities from a comparative perspective:

  • Study 1, Centre for Community Based Research: The Impact of the Syrian Refugee Influx on Local Systems of Support
  • Study 2, International Migration Research Centre: Syrian Refugee Resettlement and Second-Tier Cities: A Case Study of Local Immigration Partnerships from Waterloo, Ottawa, and Hamilton
  • Study 3, Access Alliance: Refugee Health and Settlement – lessons learned from the Syrian response
  • Study 4, Centre for Community Based Research: Syrian Refugee Youth
  • Study 5, Centre for Community Based Research: Syrian Refugee Parents and Older Adults
  • Study 6, Centre for Community Based Research: Faith and Settlement Partnerships
