About this Event

Women in International Security Canada’s Conference #WeAreNATO: The Alliance's Efforts to Advance Women, Peace and Security

This event is supported by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization

______________________________

To celebrate NATO’s 70th anniversary, WIIS-Canada will be organizing a conference that looks at the Alliance’s efforts to advance the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda, an area in which Canada has displayed a strong leadership role. WIIS-Canada is dedicated to increase women’s visibility in policy debates, and to expanding gender mainstreaming efforts in international security. This event aims to raise awareness about the important role Canada played in NATO’s past, present, and future.

The event’s first roundtable will invite female Canadian leaders with key positions within NATO to share their personal experience with the Canadian public. The second panel will invite official NATO and Canadian representatives, as well as members from the civil society, to discuss current efforts to implement the WPS Agenda both within the institution and in the field. The event will be followed by a networking reception for scholars and practitioners in collaboration with Canadian and U.S. partners like Fulbright Canada, the Canadian Defence and Security Network, the Canadian Network for Defence and Security Analysis, the NATO Association of Canada, the Royal Canadian Military Institute, and WIIS-Global.
