Event description

Description

Recent trends in residential roof design include modern flat roofs and classic mansard designs. These roofs often have complex geometry and ventilating them can be tricky – one wrong step in design or construction can lead to significant moisture problems. In this LAB Event, Trevor Trainor and Jonathan Smegal will discuss the different factors affecting roof ventilation and also when and why an unvented design may be a better choice. Focusing on cold climates, they will look at case studies as well as research to get a fresh perspective on how different design constraints can lead to problematic decisions – and how to do low-sloped residential roofs right.

Presenter: Trevor Trainor and Jonathan Smegal
