Determining the optimal sample size for a health research study assures an adequate power to detect statistical significance. Hence, it is a critical step in the study design of a planned research protocol. This webinar will provide the essentials in calculating power and sample size for a range of applied health research study designs.

This webinar is open to anyone who is collaborating, or planning to collaborate, in Patient-Oriented-Research. It is intended for graduate students, residents, clinicians and academic researchers who are interested in learning about, or contributing to, Patient-Oriented-Research.


Hensley H Mariathas is a lead biostatistician at the NLSUPPORT. He completed his PhD at Memorial University. He has an extensive knowledge in biostatistical methods, analysis and worked in collaboration with researchers in the development of NL SUPPORT’s services.
