Event description

Description

Agile is a phenomenal way of delivering value to the citizens we serve as a BC Public Service. If you’ve heard about the buzz, are interested in learning more, and want to see clear and practical examples of how these concepts are actually being put into practice, well you’ve probably come to the right place. The Queen’s Printer of BC has been applying principles of Agile across the organization in both technical and non-technical product development. This talk aims at giving some tips and tricks from the trenches for others who may be interested in moving down the path towards Agile implementation.

Who will benefit from attending?

Anyone that is open to the possibility of working in a new way. Especially if you’ve heard about Agile, you are wondering what the buzz is all about, and you understand concepts best when you can see them in practice!

Presenter

Spencer Tickner has worked his entire career in the BC Public Service at the Queen’s Printer. He was hired as a developer for the QP and held increasingly senior roles throughout the organization and is now Director of the Queen’s Printer. His work during this time has focused on modernizing the way government and citizens interact, specifically in the area of government content publishing and distribution. The Queen’s Printer business he has been able to successfully spearhead initiatives such as open online access to legislation (bclaws.ca), application modernization (DevOps, Cloud) and a different approach to product management (Agile Scrum) to name a few.
