4 Wise Efforts: Abandon, Avoid, Bring Forth, and Nurture

All Buddhist wisdom is contained in the teachings on the four wise efforts. During this non-residential retreat, a friendly and quiet gathering, we will explore how to live well, learning how to: consciously identify and abandon that which needlessly disturbs the heart; prevent the emergence of attitudes that are harmful to ourselves and others; explore the capacity we have to invite beautiful and liberating human qualities; and finally, nurturing the wisdom to recognize and cultivate those strengths alive within us. A big program! A search that will take place in joy and kindness, promised.

All are welcomed to this event; whatever your identity is, whatever your identities are in the present moment.

In-person offering: Envelopes labelled "Dana" will be available at the retreat for you to offer cash dana to Pascal. Canadian or US cheques will also be accepted - please make them out to Pascal Auclair.

Other options for offering dana: information will be shared with registrants by email and in person regarding Paypal and E-Transfer options.

Pascal Auclair has been immersed in Buddhist practice and study since 1997, sitting retreats in Asia and America with revered monastics and lay teachers. He has been mentored by Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield at the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Massachusetts and Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California, where he is now enjoying teaching retreats. Pascal teaches in North America and in Europe.

He is a co-founder of True North Insight and one of TNI’s Guiding Teachers. His depth of insight, classical training, and creative expression all combine in a wise and compassionate presence. In addition, his warmth and humour make Pascal a much appreciated teacher.

With heartfelt gratitude, BCIMS acknowledges we are based in what is now known as Vancouver, BC, the beautiful, traditional, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples, who live on and have stewarded this land for thousands of years.
