Welcoming Diverse Populations to Your Organization
Wed, 23 November 2016, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST
With Canada’s growing and ever changing immigrant population, organizations play a unique and important role in creating cohesive communities. Newcomers contribute to strengthening the social and economic fabric of our community. Yet, the challenges to achieving active newcomer participation may be numerous for both newcomers and the communities welcoming them. In this workshop Yorlenis Proenza, Pre-employment and Volunteer Development Coordinator with Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington, will explore:
- the current landscapes of culture and diversity;
- address some of the concerns about inclusion of newcomers and immigrants and
- discuss some practical implications of cultural diversity.
This workshop will help you rethink what inclusion looks like at your organization and how it operates in practice. It is an excellent learning opportunity for program coordinators and volunteer managers.
